It would be stretching it to claim it's been quiet around Volbeat since they ended their 150 date 2013 tour in their hometown of Copenhagen last december. A tour that incidentially saw over a million fans experience Volbeat live in 2013.

But the band has reached an international status so the word "quiet" doesn't much figure into it anymore where all things Volbeat are concerned. The members may well be away on holiday for a while. But they're still there and talked about. Case in point: in january when the band was Grammy-nominated in the "Best metal performance" category with the song "Room 24" (featuring King Diamond). The grammy by the way was won by Black Sabbath but we doubt that anybody in Volbeat are crying over losing to the Birmingham legends.

As I write Volbeat are gearing up for their next trek on the road. Another world tour beckons and so far 52 concerts are confirmed. They kick off in Japan on february 15. and play three shows in The Land Of The Rising Sun before heading to Australia for seven shows there. After that the Americans have the pleasure of Volbeat's company through spring before the band returns to the European summer festival circuit – opening the season for outdoor frolics at Sweden Rock Festival in early June.
